PHC and LHC grant bails
RAWALPINDI/PESHAWAR (Dunya News) - Former federal ministers and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders Ali Muhammad Khan and Shehryar Afridi were granted bails by the high courts in separate cases on Thursday.
In the first case, the bail application of Ali Muhammad Khan was heard by a two-member bench comprising Justice Ejaz Anwar and Justice Fazal Subhan of the Peshawar High Court.
Advocate Ali Zaman and Nadeem Shah pleaded the case and the court approved the bail of Ali Muhammad Khan and ordered his immediate release.
Notably, Justice Ijaz Anwar also emphasised the need to hold the deputy commissioner of Mardan accountable and summoned him to the next hearing on August 8.
In another development, PTI leader Shehryar Afridi was also granted bail in the GHQ attack case by the Rawalpindi division bench of Lahore High Court.
The bench, comprising Justice Anwar Haq Pannu and Justice Safdar Saleem Shahid, approved the bail of Shehryar Afridi as well as the other accused, Asmatullah Khan and Nazia Bibi.
Lawyers argued that Shehryar Afridi was not named as an accused in the case and that he has already been granted bail in another case registered at the I-Nine police station in Islamabad.
Consequently, the court granted bail to the accused and ordered Afridi's immediate release.
