Govt extends deployment of security forces in GB for one year

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The federal government on Monday extended the deployment of security forces in Gilgit Baltistan for another year.

Sources said the federal cabinet approved the deployment of the Army, Rangers, GB scouts, and FC personnel through a circulation ceremony. “The interior ministry had sent the summary for extension,” the sources added.

The GB government, sources said, had requested an extension in deployment of internal security. “The Army’s deployment has been extended till June 30, 2024,” sources added.

The Army would be deployed for security including that of CPEC projects, and Kakakoram Highway. “The deployment of Punjab Rangers has also been extended for an year while Rangers have been deployed till June 30 and October 24,” source said.

The federal cabinet extended the deployment of frontier constabulary until June 30, 2024 while the tenure of GB scouts have been extended up to August 23, 2024.
