LAHORE (Dunya News) – River Sutlej inundated many villages in Okara and Bahawalnagar as the floodwater was moving downstream after submerging settlements in Kasur district.

Earlier on Sunday, the Flood Forecasting Division (FFD) of Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said Sutlej river was in medium flood at Sulemanki but likely to fall. All other major rivers were below the low flood level.

The water also receded in Ravi near Lahore's Shahdara area, setting aside the possibility of flood.

The country’s central region had been facing a flood situation for several days as the northern states of India, where the catchment areas of the Sutlej and Ravi rivers are located, witnessed torrential rains.

According to Punjab caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, more than 14,000 people had been evacuated by Rescue 1122 from the province’s flood-affected areas so far.

Radio Pakistan also shared a video on its Twitter handle, showing the Pakistan Army providing assistance to flood affectees in Bahawalnagar and its adjoining areas.
