The PPP stalwart proposed to end the current assemblies in the second week of August

LAHORE (Dunya News) - Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and former President Asif Ali Zardari held a meeting in Lahore to discuss various political strategies for the upcoming elections, including the caretaker setup.

During the meeting between both seasoned leaders discussed the probabilities of bringing politicians instead of a bureaucrat for upcoming caretaker prime minister and the interim government.

According to sources, detailed consultations between both leaders were held on the final date for the end of the incumbent assembly's tenure. Asif Ali Zardari proposed to end the tenure of the current assemblies in the second week of August, to which the Prime Minister expressed confidence in gaining the trust of other allies as well.

Former President Asif Ali Zardari also acknowledged Prime Minister's key role in securing IMF’s emergency aid package and congratulated him on the deal. In response to this, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif expressed gratitude to Asif Ali Zardari.

Mr. Zardari stated that we (PDM) are working to ameliorate the deteriorating economic situation caused by the mismanagement and incompetence of former (PTI) government.

The Prime Minister said that our entire focus is to strengthen the economy, and by the grace of Allah, we are achieving successes in this noble cause. We are moving towards political stability by eliminating the politics of discord and chaos in the country. The dream of those who wanted the country to default and get bankrupt was merely reduced to an obnoxious dream.
