Interim CM said LESCO should be approached to underground electricity cables near historical sites
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Interim Chief Minister of Punjab, Mohsin Naqvi has ordered to remove all the encroachment from the historic gates and other sites of Lahore on Thursday.
Interim Chief Minister of Punjab, Mohsin Naqvi, chaired a meeting assessing restoration projects of 12 historical gates of Lahore. The meeting also discussed the proposal to create a park similar to Greater Iqbal Park near the Noor Jahan and Jahangir's mausoleums.
Mohsin Naqvi has instructed the Lahore Walled City Authority to initiate the restoration of the historical gates. Designing and project implementation will take place according to the research by the Walled City Authority’s experts. Taxali Gate, Lohari Gate, Shah Alam Gate, Mochi Gate, Akbari Gate, Delhi Gate, Yakki Gate, Roshnai Gate, Sheranwala Gate, Masti Gate, and other gates will be restored in phases and brought back to their original condition.
The Chief Minister has also ordered the elimination of encroachments around the historical gates, Maryam Zamani Begum Mosque (opposite the Shahi Qila) and the immediate removal of wall chalking and banners from historical buildings.
He also said that LESCO (Lahore Electric Supply Company) should be approached to underground the electricity cables near historical sites.
