86 killed, 151 injured in recent monsoon rains across country: NDMA

LAHORE (Dunya News) - At least six more persons lost their live and nine sustained injuries in the rain-related incidents in Punjab and Sindh provinces in the last 24 hours, Dunya News reported.

The total death toll in Pakistan from this season's monsoon rains since June 25 has risen to around 86, along with 151 injured, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said.

According to a report released by the NDMA on Monday evening, 37 children, 16 women and 33 men lost their lives in separate rain-related accidents in the country.

Punjab province was the worst-hit region where 52 people were killed, followed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces which reported 20 and six deaths, respectively. Five people died in Sindh and three in Azad Kashmir.

Moreover, 97 houses were destroyed and 46 livestock perished in different parts of Pakistan, the report said.
