No leniency for those involved in 9/5 attacks: Shafay Hussain

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) chief organiser Chaudhry Sarwar said on Wednesday there was a dire need to improve the justice system in the country.

Addressing a press conference, Mr Sarwar (flanked by PML-Q's Chaudhry Shafay Hussain), said, "Youth is the strength of our party. Now, fortunately, youth from minorities are also joining the PML-Q".

"As a nation, it is necessary to ask ourselves whether we have fulfilled the vision of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah. I assure the minorities that if the PML-Q comes to power, it will fight for their rights," Mr Sarwar said.

He said, "It is a matter of pride for me that when I was the Punjab governor, all festivals of different religions were celebrated at the Governor House".

Meanwhile, speaking about former Punjab chief minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, Mr Hussain said, "All facilities have been provided to Parvez Elahi in the jail. We wish he is set at liberty soon."

Mr Hussain said, "Each party will try its level best to get the majority in Punjab. The PML-Q is also trying hard. We are also holding district-wise meetings with our candidates. The PML-Q will be stronger in Punjab in the coming days."

Highlighting the importance of democracy, he said, "When it comes to democracy, it will be further strengthened in the country. The role of every political party, citizens and the media is very important."

Mr Hussain gave the example of the neighbouring countries and said, "Look where the neighbouring countries are standing now. But, on the other hand, we are surrounded by old problems."

As for the May 9 rioters, he said those who attacked military installations must be brought to justice.
