The families of persons kidnapped by Somali pirates have appealed to Sindh governor for help.
In a meeting with Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat-ul-Abad, the families of the hostage appealed for the release of their beloved ones.MV Albedo was hijacked ten months ago by Somali pirates. The crew of the ship consists of 23 individuals including 7 Pakistanis, 7 Sri Lankans, 5 Bangladeshis, 2 Indians and one Iranian.They said that pirates were demanding $8 million for the release of the crew, adding that they were waiting for help. The urged the federal, provincial governments and NGOs to help them. Capitan of the ship Javed Saleem belongs to Karachi, Chief Officer Mujtaba is from Manshera, Third Officer Raheel Anwar from Faisalabad, crew member Ahsan Naveed from Jhelum, Faqeer Muhammad Karachi and Fourth Engineer Zulfiqar Ali belongs to Gujrat.The daughter of Chief Officer Mujtaba appealed to the entire nation to secure the release of her father from the pirates. She said the nation should support like they supported Laila when her father’s vessel MV Suez was also hijacked by Somali pirates.
