Elahi sees international lenders having no respect for govt

LAHORE (Dunya News) – In connection with the holding of the Punjab Assembly elections, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Chaudhry Parvez Elahi said on Monday that those who were refusing to give funds to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will have to face contempt of court.

The former Punjab chief minister held a meeting with political and social leaders. On this occasion, he took a dig at Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, claiming, "Shehbaz Sharif is indulging in incitement against the constitution. Shehbaz Sharif has been given instructions exclusively from the godfather living in London."

In terms of the supremacy of the constitution, Mr Elahi said, "The entire nation is standing by the Chief Justice."

Lashing out at the coalition government, Mr Elahi claimed, "The lesson from the last 12 months is that Shehbaz Sharif and the country cannot stand together. Those who brought Shehbaz Sharif into power are now regretting their decision."

He lamented that the country was facing severe economic hardships, adding that the international lenders had no respect for the incumbent government.

Mr Elahi recounted that during the tenure of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), over 10 million people had left the country due to disappointment.

Slamming the government over the matter of flour, Mr Elahi said that the masses were losing their lives for the sake of flour.

The government had given the masses nothing but anarchy, destruction, disappointment, inflation, and a lack of hope, Mr Elahi maintained.
