Free Flour Scheme: Punjab govt distributes 2.5 million flour bags in just 3 days
LAHORE (Dunya News) – The Punjab government distributed 2.5 million bags of flour to deserving families under the Ramadan Free Flour Scheme in just three days. The scheme, which offers three free bags of flour per family, would continue throughout the holy month of Ramadan.
In Lahore city alone, 1 lakh 25 thousand bags of flour were distributed free of cost. The distribution process was monitored by interim Chief Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi, who personally oversaw the initiative.
He ordered the deputy commissioners of all districts to ensure that any issues faced by people were alleviated. Naqvi stressed the supply of flour should be ensured to the people without any problem or difficulty.
He also directed district administrations to make necessary preparations keeping in mind the number of people present.
The Chief Minister revealed that the federal and Punjab governments were providing subsidy of Rs53 billion on the free flour scheme, and 47 million bags would be distributed in total.
Families with a monthly earning of less than Rs60,000 and people registered under the Benazir Income Support Program were eligible to receive three bags of flour for free.
