PML-N deliberates on interim set-up and tickets allotment
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Monday deliberated on the interim setup and allotment of tickets for elections in Punjab in a party session.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif presided over the session which decided to form a parliamentary board for elections. Sources said the PML-N senior vice president Maryam Nawaz would supervise the process of allotment of tickets.
Earlier, former Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Parvez Elahi nominated Sardar Ahmad Nawaz Sukhaira, Nasir Mahmood Khosa and Muhammad Naseer Khan for the caretaker CM.
It merits mention that Mr Elahi had advised the Punjab Governor Baligh ur Rehman to dissolve the Punjab Assembly. However, the governor refused to sign the summary which led to the dissolution of the assembly after 48 hours as per the constitution. It follows the discussions on the interim set-up in the province which requires the treasury and the opposition benches to nominate three persons each for the interim CM.
Moreover, elections are required to be conducted 90 days after the dissolution of the assembly which has put the main parties in the race for the coveted slot in the province.
