PEEF to construct 1500 new schools in five years
LAHORE (Dunya News) – The Punjab Education Endowment Fund (PEEF) announced construction of 1,500 new schools to provide education to 500,000 students in the province in five years.
Breakdown of the plan suggests that 300 schools will be constructed in one year and children who could not get themselves enrolled in schools earlier will be prioritised for admission.
PEEF Managing Director Manzar Javed Ali said the project would be initiated with the help of foreign aid, adding the results of the census would help highlight the districts where schools were needed. “Apart from 1,500 schools, another 300 schools will be constructed in Thal and Cholistan, and the PEEF board has approved the plan. Applications will be opened to invite partners for construction,” he added.
