Govt to collect arm licenses record

Government has decided to collect data of arm licenses issued during the last ten years.

In a high profile meeting, chaired by Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik, issue of arm licenses issued during 2000 to 2010 was taken into consideration.It was decided in the meeting that Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) will investigate the issue on the basis of record of the arms fee collected by authorised banks. Also, arm license fee could be deposited in local NADRA office. Interior Minister also directed the Printing Corporation to provide record of printed copies of arm licenses since 1947.It was also decided that fake license holders will be prosecuted under article 420 andrenewal fee for license of prohibited and non-prohibited bore weapons will be Rs 1100 and Rs 600 respectively.NADRA is asked to provide record of Islamabad police. Interior Ministry is asked to contact Establishment Division in order to computerise the data of federal governments’ employees. NADRA will also keep record of the foreigners’ departure and arrival. No foreigner will be allowed to leave the country without exit certificate.
