LHC bars ECP from taking action against officers accused of misconduct in by-election

LAHORE (Dunya News) – The Lahore High Court has barred the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) from taking action against the officers allegedly involved in irregularities in the Daska by-election.
Justice Shujaat Ali Khan of the Lahore High Court, while announcing the reserved verdict, accepted all the petitions filed against the electoral watchdog. The judge said officers of the departments concerned, not the election commission, could take action against the officers allegedly involved in misconduct.
Former Sialkot DC and other suspects had moved the high court against the ECP.
