Govt-PTI deadlock over conducting snap polls persists

Pakistan

President Arif Alvi has informed PTI chief Imran Khan about the situation.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - A deadlock between the coalition government and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) persists over the matter of conducting snap polls in the country, as both the sides could not reach a consensus to enter into dialogue in near future, Dunya News reported on Sunday.

According to sources, no progress could be made in the recent meetings between the President Arif Alvi and the Finance Minister Ishaq as both the parties are sticking to their positions over the matter.

Sources further said that President Arif Alvi has informed PTI chief and former prime minister Imran Khan about the situation.

The government and Imran Khan-led party are at loggerheads over fresh elections in the country as the PTI is exerting pressure on the government for early polls. The PML-N and its coalition partners are not ready to budge on its position of holding elections on time.
