More than 300 shops reduced to ashes in Islamabad blaze

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – A huge fire broke out at Peshawar Mor area of the Capital Territory Islamabad, burning down more than 300 shops.

Rescuers and police said a fire broke out at a Sunday Bazaar at Peshawar Mor in Islamabad damaging essential commodities worth millions of rupees.

More than eight rescue and fire brigade trucks tried to control the fire.

Sources said that firefighters have reached the spot and efforts were underway to bring fire under control. Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah took immediate notice of the tragic incident.

Police sealed all the routes leading to the Sunday Bazaar and demanded a report of the incident from
District Government Islamabad.

District Commissioner (DC) Islamabad said that “There were numerous blasts due to petrol and generators in the shops, a total of around 2700 shops crumbled in the fire.”

Pakistan Air force (PAF) fire fighter trucks assisted the Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) and were able to control the fire.
