Embassy, police deny: abducted American recovered

American kidnapped 12 days ago from Lahore has been recovered, unconfirmed reports said.

According to reports, Warren Weinstein has been recovered from captors in Khushab. It is not immediately clear if abductors have been made arrested. However, the US Embassy in Islamabad and the Lahore CCPO denied having any information if Weinstein had been found. The embassy said it didnt have any report of his recovery.A foreign news agency reported that the CCPO claimed Thursday that officers had freed a kidnapped American development expert but then he swiftly retracted the statement.The US Embassy in Islamabad said it has no evidence the American was recovered.We have no information that would confirm recovery of Warren Weinstein, but we are hoping for a positive outcome, the US embassy said.Warren was abducted from his residence in Model Town only a day before his scheduled departure back to the United States. He is an employee of JE Austin Associates Inc, Virginia-based consulting firm. He has been working on a development project in the tribal areas where Pakistani troops have been battling insurgents for years.Police earlier arrested three people suspected of belonging to the gang that abducted the 70-year-old American development expert.Lahore police chief Malik Ahmed Raza said Wednesday the arrests were made after officers tracked cell phone numbers. Warren Weinstein was seized by up to 10 gunmen from his home on Aug 13.
