Karachi registry of the apex court announced the reserved verdict on a plea of Dua Zehra's father

KARACHI (Dunya News) - The Supreme Court of Pakistan wrapped up a petition filed by Dua Zehra’s father Mehdi Kazmi against the Sindh High Court verdict.

The Karachi registry of the apex court announced the reserved verdict on a plea of Dua Zehra’s father and asked Mehdi Kazmi to approach the relevant forum for the formation of the medical board in Dua Zehra case.

“The case did not fall within the ambit of SC,” the SC ruled.

Last week, Dua Zehra’s father challenged the Sindh High Court’s verdict in the case in the Supreme Court.

The SHC — on June 8 — had issued a verdict in favour of Dua, allowing her to decide if she wants to go with her parents or her husband.

However, Dua Zehra’s father, in his plea in the apex court, took stance that the verdict given by the SHC is faulty or inaccurate. The decision was announced on the basis of the medical test and his daughter’s statement.

The medical report stated that Dua is 17 years old, while his daughter is 14 years old as per the National Advanced Database Registration Authority (NADRA) record and also her educational credentials, he added.
