NAB initiates inquiry into Rs2 bn corruption allegations in KP covid fund

PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Monday commenced the investigation after alleged corruption of Rs 2 billion in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa covid fund. 

Sources privy to the matter said that, NAB KP launched an investigation and has also seized the records from the health department.

It has been decided by the NAB to summon National Assembly members over the charge of illegally benefiting the companies of millions of rupees through covid fund, while statements of some members of the KP Assembly, government officials and health department officials have also been recorded, sources added.

Earlier, a special audit report of the Auditor General had also identified serious financial irregularitues KP covid fund amounting to over Rs2.9 billion in procurement of Corona tests, safety kits, medicines, machinery and equipment.

The report also stated that, illegal companies owned by the elected members of the National Assembly were given benefits and irregularities through suspicious purchase of cardiac monitor and other necessary devices.
