IHC bars police from booking PTI leaders over Masjid-e-Nabwi incident

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday barred police from booking Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leaders on blasphemy charges over the Masjid-e-Nabwi incident in which some unknown people harassed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and members of Federal Government.
As per details, the plaintiff counsel prayed that court to direct the government to withdraw the First Information Reports (FIRs).
Chief Justice IHC Athar Minullah remarked that it is shameful that religion is being used for politics. There should be patience and tolerance in the politics, he added.
The court further remarked that political leaders must show some responsibility.
The government had accused the PTI leadership of inciting the heckling and harassment of its members, including the information minister, at the mosque.
Several cases were registered across the country against PTI leaders, including Chairman Imran Khan, alleging blasphemy. The PTI had approached the IHC against the FIRs to seek relief.
