14 more educational institutes to be sealed in Islamabad
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – In wake of rising COVID-19 cases across Islamabad, the federal government of Pakistan has been suggested to close 14 more schools.
According to details, the District Health Officer (DHO) Dr Zaeem Zia has written a letter to the administration to seal fourteen more schools in Islamabad due to rising COVID-19 positivity.
According to DHO, the COVID-19 cases have been detected in 151 educational institutes across Islamabad out of which 137 have been sealed while some of the schools have also been reopened.
Earlier on Thursday, the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) decided to maintain restrictions for the education sector.
According to sources, it has been decided to keep schools open in cities with less than 10 percent positivity rate. In cities with less than 10 per cent rate, schools for students above 12 years of age will remain open and fully vaccinated students over the age of 12 will be allowed to attend school.
Students in cities with a rate of more than 10 per cent will come to school on alternative days, while in cities with a rate of more than 10 per cent. Cities having an infection rate of over 10 per cent will allow classes for students aged below 12 years with 50 per cent attendance (staggered days).
However, classes for students (fully vaccinated) over the age of 12 years will continue with full attendance.
It also said that the vaccination of students above 12 years will be compulsory from Feb 1. Large-scale testing will continue at educational institutes across the country for their targeted closure.
