Children among five killed as strong winds wreak havoc in Karachi

KARACHI (Dunya News) – At least six people including a child were killed when strong winds wreaked havoc in Karachi as roofs were blown off and walls collapsed in Karachi on Friday.

As per the details garnered, the tents set up for certificate distribution ceremony collapsed due to strong winds in Karachi. Due to inclement weather, the annual certificate distribution ceremony of Karachi University was postponed.

Karachi University Registrar Prof Dr Abdul Waheed announced that the ceremony has been postponed in view of unexpected weather and the new date will be announced later.

The current weather conditions as predicted will continue till late night while the authorities have instructed the citizens to be cautious.

On the other hand, a man was electrocuted in a house near Landhi Mansehra Colony Street No 10. The deceased was shifted to Jinnah Hospital where he was identified as Khawanin son of Ghulam Jan.

The walls of a school in Karachi collapsed after strong winds hit the city. The building situated in Paposh Nagar, was already in a dilapidated condition.
