Health department suggested to impose restrictions in areas with over 10 percent positivity ratio

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Sindh Health Department on Wednesday has prepared recommendations regarding restrictions to contain coronavirus outbreak in the province.

According to details, the provincial health department has suggested to impose restrictions in the areas with over 10 percent positivity ratio.

The department has also recommended to shut marriage halls, tombs and cinema halls while it has also suggested to close schools of children till age of 12.

It is to be mentioned here that coronavirus positivity rate in provincial capital of Sindh, Karachi has risen to record level of 40.13 percent as country faces fifth wave of the deadly virus fueled by Omicron variant.

The total number of tests conducted in Karachi in the last 24 hours were 7232 and total coronavirus positive cases mounted to 2902. So far, 430 Omicron patients have been reported in Karachi.

On the other hand, Pakistan has reported 8 deaths in the last 24 hours by novel coronavirus as the number of positive cases has surged to 1,338,993. The nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 29,037.

According to the latest figures by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) 5,472 persons tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.

Punjab remains the worst-hit province in terms of deaths followed by Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Till now 13,091 individuals have lost their lives to the epidemic in Punjab, 7,709 in Sindh 5,965 in KP, 969 in Islamabad, 749 in Azad Kashmir, 367 in Balochistan, and 187 in GB.
