Rawalpindi: Constable embraces martyrdom in firing on police van

RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – Some unidentified miscreants riding on motorcycles opened fire at a police van in Rawalpindi due to which a police constable embraced martyrdom while two other officials sustained injuries, Dunya News reported on Monday.
According to details, a police party was on duty at the CDA Chowk in the jurisdiction of Pirwadhai Police Station when some unidentified persons opened fire at their van, injuring three police officials identified as constable Khurram Shahzad, constable Umar Farooq and sub-inspector Manzoor Shahzad.
The injured cops were rushed to hospital, where constable Khurram Shahzad embraced martyrdom. The attackers managed to escape from the scene after the incident.
A heavy contingent of police reached the spot after the incident and cordoned off the area. Police have also launched a search operation to arrest the culprits.
