Talk between Finance, Railways ministries ended fruitless

Dialogue between Railways and Finance Ministry regarding provision of funds ended fruitless.

The Railways demanded Rs 9 billion without any delay.A high-level meeting led by the Finance Minister Dr Abdul Hafiz Shaikh was held in Islamabad.The Railways Minister Ghulam Ahmad Billor, theMinster for Labour Syed Khursheed Shah others also participated the meeting. The secretaries of the related departments were also present.The meeting continued for many hours but the Finance Ministry did not assure to issue funds for the Railways.The government had allocated the package worth Rs 11 billion out of which only two billion could be issued uptill now. The meeting also pondered over services of expert for the renovation and reconstruction of the Railways system but none of these could be finalized.The Railways Minster warned that trains service would be closed if the remaining funds were not issued as well.On the other the Finance Ministry said that the Railways Ministry should prepare a plan on sound footings; then we would consider about the provision of funds.
