Spini Road victims laid to rest, shutterdown tomorrow

The 11 people killed in Spini Road terrorism incident have been laid to rest.

Angry people protested against the shootings, burnt tyres and damaged properties. A shutterdown strike has been called by the Hazara Democratic Party in the Balochistan province for tomorrow (Sunday).Earlier in the day, at least 11 people were shot dead and three were injured on Spini Road by unknown miscreants.The firing incident took place on Saturday morning on Spini Road, near Hazara Town, killing 11 people and injuring three others.According to Dunya News report, some unknown miscreants attacked a Suzuki van near Hazara Town. Most of the victims belonged to Hazara community.Police and rescue teams reached the site and shifted the injured to Bolan Medical Complex. The condition of the injured is stated to be very critical.Police have cordoned off the area and launched a search operation. People of Hazara community gathered at the site after the incident and staged a protest. The protesters blocked the road by burning tyres and chanted slogans against the government.Police have taken 200-250 suspects into custody so far, said Inspector General Police Balochistan Rao Amin Hashim. Talking to newsmen, he said, “Unidentified gunmen riding bike opened fire at a Suzuki van carrying a group of people which was on way to the main city from Hazara Town area”, adding that as a result, seven people were killed on the spot and four died on the way to Bolan Medical Complex hospital.He said the police have raided various places in sensitive areas and about 200-250 suspected persons had been taken into the custody so far adding that the arrested suspects were being interrogated by investigation teams headed by senior officials.He said that heavy contingents of police and other law enforcement agencies had been deployed in sensitive areas.The dead were identified as Syed Ameer Khan, Ali Muhammad, Mir Muhammad, Qurban Ali, Ubaidullah, Liaquat Ali, Muhammad Ibrahim, Syed Aqeel Shah, Hussain Ahmed and the van driver Raza Muhammad while identity of a body of a woman could not be ascertained.
