Minar-e-Pakistan incident: Police identify 22 persons from video footage

Police is facing difficulties in identifying the culprits of assault due to lack of clear footage.

LAHORE (Dunya News) - Police have identified 22 persons in connection with the Minar-e-Pakistan assault incident with the help of video footage.

According to details, 70 persons have been released after investigation while the identification of suspects is underway through NADRA.

Earlier, police faced difficulty in identifying the suspects as the Safe City cameras were non-operational. Police was facing difficulties in identifying the culprits of assault due to lack of clear footage, sources said.

According to details, the boy Amir companion of victim Ayesha made the first call on emergency 15 at 7:15 pm while the second call was made at 7:26 pm and the third call was made at 8:15 pm while the concerned SHO arrived at the scene at 8.40 pm.

The police team rescued the girl from the accused and took her to the police station. However, the police did not arrest any accused on the spot.

Initially, the girl told the police that she did not want to take any action. The victim is a resident of Qila Lachhman Singh Ravi Road instead of Shahdara and is a nurse at the Punjab Institute of Cardiology.
