Bench hearing intra-court appeals in missing persons case dissolved

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The bench hearing intra-court appeals in the missing persons’ recovery case has been dissolved after Islamabad High Court Justice Babar Sattar apologized for hearing the case.

A bench comprising Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb and Justice Babar Sattar heard intra-court appeals in the missing persons’ recovery case.

Barrister Umar Ijaz Gilani, Assistant Attorney General Khawaja Imtiaz appeared in the court on behalf of Mahra Sajid and took a stand that the matter of missing persons should be handed over to the Commission on Missing Persons.

Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb remarked, "Do you want us to read the report written by the United Nations and international organizations on this commission?" Are these missing people alive or dead?

Justice Babar Sattar, a member of the bench, remarked that he had been a judicial assistant in the Mahra Sajid case, so he could not hear this case.

Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb remarked that he would request the Chief Justice to form a special bench in this regard. The matter has been referred to the Chief Justice for formation of a new bench.
