One killed, four injured in grenade attack in Quetta

A heavy contingent of police have reached the blast site and cordoned off the area.

QUETTA (Dunya News) – One person was killed and four other, including a policeman, sustained injuries in a grenade attack in Quetta on late Monday night, Dunya News reported.

According to details, some unidentified terrorists hurled a hand grenade at shop selling Jashan-e-Azadi items at the Sher Jan Stop in Eastern By-pass area of Quetta, killing one person on the spot and injuring four other.

Rescue teams reached the spot and shifted the dead and injured to Civil Hospital, Quetta. Rescue sources said that the deceased was identified as Aman Ullah. Rescue teams also informed that the injured included a police official who was brought to the hospital in critical condition.

Sources said that a heavy contingent of police have reached the blast site and cordoned off the area. Police have also started collecting evidences from the blast site.

It is pertinent to mention here that this was the third such incident of terrorism in Quetta in two days. At least two police officials were martyred and 22 other persons were wounded in two separate explosions in the provincial capital of Balochistan on Sunday.

At least two policemen were martyred and 21 other persons were injured in first explosion near Quetta s Unity Chowk on Sunday evening, police sources said.

According to police, 13 police officials and 8 passers-by were wounded in the blast that targeted a police mobile. As soon as the blast was reported, security forces rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area.

Police sources said that the explosive material was planted in a motorbike in Unity Chowk area of Quetta. A Police vehicle was targeted in the attack.

On the other hand, rescue teams reached the spot and started rescue operations. The injured were transported to hospitals by ambulances. In view of the situation, an emergency was declared in the hospitals.

Later, another blast took place on Sariab Road in Quetta, injuring one person. Police sources said the miscreants had planted explosives under a wheelbarrow.
