Power shortfall reaches above 4800 MW

Shortfall of power became 4,803 due to increase in demand, prompting increased loadshedding.

The duration of load shedding in urban areas is 9 hours while rural areas 12 hours.According to the PEPCO, the consumption of power is 18,362 MW, while its production is 13, 560 MW.IPPs are generating 5844 MW, Thermal units 1913, Hydel power 5,586 and rental power plants 216 MW. KESC is being provided with 720 MW.It is worth mentioning that there is raise of 400 MW in shortfall as compared to last day, causing successive and prolonged load shedding.
