Numbers of coronavirus cases are increasing day by day due to non-implementation of SOPs: CM

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has directed to ensure strict implementation of coronavirus related standard operating procedures (SOPs) throughout province.

In a statement, the minister directed monitoring teams to continue their checking in markets and other public places and take action as per law on any violation. He said the numbers of coronavirus cases are increasing day by day due to non-implementation of SOPs.

The CM appealed to the people to follow the SOPs because their cooperation is necessary to stop the spread of fourth wave of coronavirus.

The reaction came after Pakistan reported 40 deaths in the last 24 hours by novel coronavirus as the number of positive cases has surged to 1,039,695. The nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 23,462.

According to the latest figures issued by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), 4,858 persons tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.

Punjab remains the worst-hit province in terms of deaths followed by Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Till now 11,067 individuals have lost their lives to the epidemic in Punjab 5,021 in Sindh, 4,468 in KP, 803 in Islamabad, 628 in Azad Kashmir, 328 in Balochistan, and 147 in GB.

Furthermore, 385,414 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sindh, 357,735 in Punjab, 144,848 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 88,093 in Islamabad, 30,502 in Balochistan, 24,891 in Azad Kashmir and 8,212 in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Pakistan has so far conducted 16,108,532 coronavirus tests and 56,414 in the last 24 hours 943,020 patients have recovered in the country whereas 3,441 patients are in critical condition.
