More than 15,000 officers, personnel of LWMC on duty to dispose of rubbish in Lahore

Lime and phenol are being used in the city to eliminate the rotting smell and odor.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – More than 15,000 officers and personnel of the Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) are in the field to dispose of rubbish in Lahore.

On Eid-ul-Adha, LWMC distributed 1.5 million biodegradable bags among the citizens to ensure cleanliness of the city. The citizens are collecting bags from 290 model camps after getting their names entered.

Under the cleaning plan, 330 excavators, 266 trolleys, 185 loaders and 1,022 dumpers are engaged in lifting waste from the city. An additional 3,500 pickups are being used to dump the waste.

359 pickups in Ravi Town, 377 in Shalimar, 258 in Wagah Town and 289 in Azizbhatti Town are being used to lift the waste. There are 427 pickups in Dataganj Bakhsh Town, 292 in Gulberg Town and 309 in Samanabad doing the job.

505 pickups are on duty in Allama Iqbal Town, 454 in Nishtar Town and 34 on Ring Road. The garbage is being collected from alleys and streets and being sent to 119 collection points across the city.

Lahore Deputy Commissioner Mudassar Riaz says that cleanliness arrangements are complete in the city. He urged the citizens to cooperate with the management.

The LWMC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Rafia Haider urged the citizens to cooperate with the management and workers and asked them to put the waste in biodegradable bags and leave it outside their homes.
