SSGC suspends gas supply to all industrial zones in Sindh
SSGC said that they are supplying gas only to the export industry due to severe shortage of gas.
KARACHI (Dunya News) - Sui Southern Gas Company on Tuesday suspended supply of gas to all industrial zones in Sindh owing to severe gas shortage, Dunya News reported.
In a letter written to all the industrial companies, the compant said that they are supplying gas only to the export industry as SSGC is facing severe shortage of gas.
It was stated that supply of gas to domestic consumers is the top priority therefore the supply of gas to all the industrial zones of the province has been suspended.
Gas supply to KEPTO Power Plant has also been reduced by 50 percent as SSGC is receiving 200 MMCFD to 250 MMCFD less gas than usual from the gas field.
On the other hand, export industry has also complained of not getting gas. Meanwhile, Provincial Minister for Industry and Commerce Jam Ikramullah Dharijo while expressing concern over the issue said that thousands of workers would be rendered jobless due to suspension of gas to industrial zones in the province.
