PIA starts COVID-19 vaccination of pilots, stewards

Over 250 pilots and stewards have received jabs in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has started phase-wise COVID-19 vaccination of pilots, stewards and frontline workers which will be completed by December.

According to PIA spokesperson, pilots and stewards will be vaccinated against coronavirus in phase one which will be completed in April. Over 250 pilots and stewards have received jabs in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad, he said.

The spokesperson told that vaccine will be administered to 25 pilots and 175 cabin crew members daily. The second phase will be completed by December in which frontline workers will be covered.

PIA CEO said the national carrier has become Pakistan’s first airline to fly with vaccinated crew as the administration is determined for safety of its employees and passengers. PIA’s step shows its resolve to maintain health and safety standards, he added.
