Nine bogies of the train derailed due to dilapidated railway track: report

KARACHI (Dunya News) – The concerned authorities on Monday have completed an initial report of Lahore-bound Karachi Express train accident that killed one woman and left 40 people injured near Sangi railway station.

According to the report issued by the federal government inspector of railways (FGIR), nine bogies of the train derailed due to dilapidated railway track.

A broken fishplate was also recovered at 490km away from the accident site while over speeding may also be one of the reasons for the mishap, the report found.

It is to be mentioned here that nine bogies of Lahore-bound Karachi express train derailed near Sangi railway station on wee hours of Sunday, killing one woman and injuring 40 others.

Rescue team and soldiers of Pakistan Army reached the place of incident and launched operation.

Following the accident, Federal Minister for Railways Azam Swati vowed strict action against those found guilty of negligence.
