All members of PML-L have been advised to reach Parliament House at 11:00am to cast their vote
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president and opposition leader in the National Assembly Mian Shahbaz Sharif and PML-N parliamentary leader Khawaja Asif, who are currently under National Accountability Bureau (NAB) detention, have been shifted to Islamabad to cast votes in Senate elections, Dunya News reported on Tuesday.
According to sources, the PML-N president Shahbaz Sharif has been given accommodation at the Ministers’ Enclave while Khawaja Asif was shifted to Parliament Lodges.
Shahbaz Sharif and Khawaja Asif will exercise their right of vote in the Senate elections scheduled to be held today. Sources said that all members of PML-L have been advised to reach Parliament House at 11:00am to cast their vote in Senate elections.
On the other hand, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday finalized all necessary arrangements for holding Senate elections today (Wednesday) on the seats which are going to be vacant after retirement of members on March 11.
According to an official of ECP, the polling will be held from 0900 hours to 1700 hours simultaneously in the Parliament House Islamabad, and provincial assembly buildings in Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
The polling is due on two seats in Islamabad, 11 seats in Sindh, and 12 each in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan -- that will fall vacant on the expiration of the term of the members. However there will be no polling in Punjab because of un-contested elections of candidates on all 11 seats of Punjab.
