PM Imran launches tourist project Al-Beruni Radius at Nandana fort
JHELUM (Dunya News) – Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Sunday has said that there is a need to preserve cultural heritage for future generation of Pakistan.
While addressing a press conference after launching Al-Beruni Radius, a tourism project for the revival of heritage at Nandana fort, the premier said that tourism provides opportunities for employment for the people.
He said that the recent discovery of a 40-feet long statue of sleeping Buddha from Haripur shows rich cultural heritage of Pakistan. Salt range of Pakistan is still unexplored, he added.
Imran Khan also announced to develop Baghaan Wala area as modern village of the area to protect heritage sites and provide better facilities to the tourists.
On the occasion, he further interacted with the locals and heard their issues.
It is to be mentioned here that PM Imran has arrived in Jhelum along with Chief Minister of Punjab (CM) Sardar Usman Buzdar.
The site’s archeological significance dates back to 11th century when famous scholar Abu Rehan Al-Beruni during his stay quantified the circumference of the Earth. Al-Beruni later wrote a famous book about the region and mentioned Nandana as a great center of learning.
The historical Nandana Fort is located in tehsil Pind Dadan Khan of district Jhelum.
