ATC sends Haleem Adil Sheikh to jail on judicial remand

The ATC ordered the authorities to produce Haleem Adil Sheikh before it on February 25.

KARACHI (Dunya News) – An anti-terrorism court (ATC) has on Friday sent Leader of the Opposition in the Sindh Assembly Haleem Adil Sheikh to jail on judicial remand in a case pertaining to interference in official affairs.

Haleem Adil Sheikh’s son, federal minister Faisal Vawda, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders Khurrum Sher Zaman, Raja Azhar Khan and lawyers in large numbers were present in the court.

The Sindh government’s lawyer requested the court to extend physical remand of the opposition leader and other suspects till March 3 and told that another accused has been arrested and a car has been recovered.

The ATC ordered the authorities to produce Haleem Adil Sheikh before it on February 25. He was earlier sent on a two-day physical remand on request of police. The court will conduct hearing on bail petition on February 22.

The opposition leader talked to media afterwards and said a snake was let loose in his room under a plan but he killed it. Haleem Adil Sheikh was shifted to jail afterwards.

It is pertinent here to mention that four cases under terrorism sections were lodged against the PTI leader. He has been accused of interference in official affairs during Tuesday’s PS-88 by-election, insurrection and aerial firing.
