Usman Dar steps down as Special Assistant to Prime Minister

The PTI leader had sought permission from PM Imran to participate in the by-polls campaign

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) leader Usman Dar on Friday stepped down from his post as Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Youth Affairs to run the election campaign for by-election in NA-75 Sialkot.

The PTI leader had sought permission from Prime Minister Imran Khan to participate in the by-election campaign in NA-75.

The Cabinet Division de-notified him Usman Dar at his request. According to sources, after the by-elections, Usman Dar could again join the post of Special Assistant.

On the other hand, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) while taking notice of violation of code of conduct in NA-75 Sialkot by-election had issued notice to Special Assistant Usman Dar.

The ECP told the PTI leader that his picture with PTI candidate in Daska was a violation of Election Act, 2017 and directed Dar to appear before the local ECP office in person.

It is pertinent here to mention that the campaigning for the by-elections in NA-75 Sialkot has entered final phase.

PML-N and PTI members are busy in the election campaign. Elected members of the assemblies from opposition parties also participated in the election campaign, including Ahsan Iqbal, Rana Sana, Khurram Dastgir, Javed Latif.

The by-elections for NA-75 Sialkot will be held on February 19. Ali Asjad Malhi will contest on PTI ticket.
