If Senate elections held by secret ballot, opposition will still cry: PM

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that government has not planned to stop the opposition’s long march adding that opposition can do whatever they want. He said people will not come out to save their corruption.

In an interview, the Prime Minister said that lack of majority is a hurdle in the legislation process in the Senate. Answering a question regarding upcoming Senate elections, the Prime Minister said opposition had raised voice for open ballot in the past, but surprisingly now it has changed its viewpoint.

He said shifting from their stance reflects that the opposition has planned horse-trading in the upcoming Senate elections adding that they are trying to get NRO which they will not get.

Imran Khan said that horse-trading was being done in the Senate elections for the last 30 years. In 2018, 20 members were expelled from PTI for taking money.

The Prime Minister said that if I had the video, I would have already submitted it to the court. The leaked video proved that money was distributed in the Senate elections. Instructions have been issued to investigate the video.

He said that the Attorney General was looking into the matter of presenting the video in the Supreme Court. If the Senate elections are held by secret ballot, the opposition will still cry.

The Prime Minister said that Minar-e-Pakistan was filled by PTI four times. I took people out against corruption. Whatever they do, the people will not come out.

Talking about the economic situation in the country, the Prime Minister said that the real reason for inflation was the depreciation of the rupee. The rise in the dollar doubled oil prices, while pulses became 70 percent more expensive. We try to minimize the burden of inflation on the people.

Answering a question, he said that the government was ready for talks from the first day but opposition demanded NRO. One point agenda of big robbers is to prevent theft.

On the question of talks with the PPP, the Prime Minister smiled and said that he knew PPP well, what he can say about them who stole National wealth while in power.

He said that the country was destroyed by the theft of the Prime Minister s not by the common people. In Malaysia too, people like Nawaz and Zardari looted the country. Countries that do not have corruption have developed.

The Prime Minister said that they grabbed government lands. I said I will not leave corrupt in the country. Politicians have seized worth billions of government lands, more revelations are coming, he added.

He said that if any person of my party has grabbed any land, send complaints on my portal, immediate action will be taken.

Responding to a question about Tehrik-e-Labbaik Pakistan s protest, he said the matter has been resolved and now its demands will be presented before the parliament for deliberations.

Imran Khan said he raised the blasphemy issue at all international fora as it is part of his faith.

He said we need to urge more heads of Muslim countries to join forces in raising this matter forcefully at the global level.

Replying to another question, he said Ulema of the country have an important role to control vulgarity in the society.
