Travel restrictions on UK travelers extended till January 31

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Due to the ongoing second wave of coronavirus, Pakistan has extended travel restrictions on those coming in from UK till January 31.

According to details, new rules and regulations have been issued by the Director Air Transport, Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) in light of the decisions of the National Command and Control Center (NCOC).

Civil Aviation Authority has given conditional permission to some Pakistanis in UK and Africa to return home, which they can avail from January 5. Passengers with dual citizenship and Pakistani travelers with short-stay visas residing in the UK have been allowed to return home.

According to the notification, all Pakistani passport holders with foreign work permits and diplomats are exempted from the ban. National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP) and Pakistan Origin Card (POC) holders are also allowed to travel to Pakistan.

According to the notification, passengers coming from UK will have to get tested before traveling. Upon arrival in Pakistan, the passengers will be retested immediately after disinfection. In case the test returns negative, the passengers will have to spend five days in quarantine.

Diplomats in Britain and Africa and their families have been given special permission to travel to Pakistan, although they will also be required to get tested 72 hours before the trip. They will be re-tested upon arrival in Pakistan and will be quarantined as directed by the Department of Health.
