EU, UK retain ban on PIA flights
The decision was made at a meeting of the European Commission on November 17 and 18 in Brussels.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The European Union Commission and Britain has decided to retain ban on flight operation Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) in Europe due to licensing and safety concerns, Dunya News reported on Thursday.
The European Union Aviation Safety Agency has also expressed dissatisfaction over PIA s measures regarding flight safety and safety management system.
The European Commission Directorate General for Mobility and Transport in a letter to the DG Civil Aviation Authority has informed about the decision to maintain the ban on PIA flight operation in Europe. The decision was made at a meeting of the European Commission on November 17 and 18 in Brussels.
On the other hand, the Director of Flight Standards of the European Union Aviation Safety Agency has also written a letter to PIA officials expressing dissatisfaction over PIA s measures regarding flight safety and safety management system and the steps taken by PIA so far are also not satisfactory. It was also said in the letter that PIA has so far failed to meet the Article 205 requirement.
