PTI ministers apologize to ANP leadership over controversial comments of Ijaz Shah
PESHAWAR (Dunya News) - Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) ministers have apologized for a controversial statement about the leadership of Awami National Party (ANP). ANP leaders accepted the apology and withdrew the decision to march towards Islamabad on November 11.
According to details, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) delegation led by Defense Minister Pervez Khattak visited the Bacha Khan Center in Peshawar and formally apologized for the controversial statement made by Interior Minister Ijaz Shah.
The delegation included Defense Minister Pervez Khattak, Interior Minister Ijaz Shah, Provincial Health Minister Timur Saleem Jhagra and MNA Arbab Sher Ali.
The delegation apologized to the central and provincial ANP leaders in the form of a jirga on the Home Minister s statement which was accepted by the ANP leaders.
ANP Central Secretary General Mian Iftikhar Hussain, Provincial President Aimal Wali Khan, Provincial General Secretary Sardar Hussain Babak, Provincial Spokesperson Samar Haroon Bilour, Senior Leader Haji Ghulam Ahmad Bilour, Central Secretary Finance Haji Hidayatullah and other Central and Provincial Cabinet members were present on the occasion.
ANP leaders accepted the jirga and withdrew the decision to march towards Islamabad on November 11.
Talking to media after the meeting, Defense Minister Pervez Khattak said that we had brought a jirga and apologized if the statement of Ijaz Shah has offended anyone.
He said that the great virtue of ANP was that the jirga was accepted and these are the Pashtun traditions.
On the occasion Interior Minister Ejaz Shah said that he thanked the ANP leaders who accepted the jirga and gave us respect. He said we apologize to all the martyrs, including the ANP if anyone has been hurt. Ejaz Shah said that I did not say anything like the way it was taken but I still apologize.
ANP provincial president Aimal Wali Khan said that we accepted the PTI jirga in accordance with Pakhtun traditions. After this jirga, the demands are withdrawn.
