PM Imran Khan phones Turkish President Erdogan, expresses sorrow over quake losses
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Imran Khan and Turkish President R Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a telephonic conversation on Saturday, in which PM Imran Khan conveyed condolences over the loss of precious lives due to Friday’s deadly earthquake in Turkey’s Izmir region and surrounding areas. Imran Khan wished and prayed for the complete recovery of those affected by the natural calamity.
The PM highlighted that given the strong bond between the two nations, the people of Pakistan share the pain of their Turkish brethren and stand by them, just as Turkey did during the 2005 earthquake in Pakistan. He offered to provide all possible support and assistance to the Turkish people in this hour of grief.
The two leaders also discussed the recent terrorist attack in Peshawar, Imran Khan stated that the cowardly terrorist attack was carried out by the enemies of Pakistan.
Both leaders also shared concerns on the rising Islamophobia in Europe. The PM reiterated that leaders of the Muslim world must take the lead in breaking this cycle of hate and extremism against Muslims.
The two leaders also agreed that their Foreign Ministers would meet and continue to engage on issues of mutual interest including efforts to address Islamophobia.
