Punjab governor rejects finance bill summary

Punjab Governor has approved the finance bill summary of Punjab Budget 2011-12.

Punjab Governor Latif Khosa had raised an objection to the summary of Finance Bill 2011-12, pointing out that constitutionally the Speaker of the Assembly was the signatory authority.He wrote that the summary received by him bore signatures of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif who, he said, was not authorised.According to the sources, the secretary of the assembly had forwarded the summary with the speaker’s signatures to the Chief Minister Secretariat.But the CM Secretariat, instead of moving the summary to the governor, got the signature of the chief minister on it.When the summary was sent back after ratification, the governor signed and approved it.
