Tandoor owners likely to hike roti price

LAHORE (Dunya News) - The owners of tandoors have started planning to increase the price of Roti and have taken a stand that they are suffering from severe financial crisis due to the flour crisis.

According to sources, the United Nan-Roti Association has called an emergency meeting in this regard on Monday.

Tandoor owners said that a bag of 20kg flour for Rs860 is not available anywhere.

Mill owners have also increased the rates of fine flour and sack is available at Rs 6,000. Tandoor owners have said that they cannot sell Roti at Rs8 in such circumstances. The government should allow the sale of Roti at reasonable rates.

Meanwhile, a meeting was held at the Chief Secretary s Office under the chairmanship of Provincial Minister for Industries Mian Aslam Iqbal in which the prices of flour and sugar, availability and performance of price control magistrates were reviewed.

The meeting decided to take unconventional and innovative measures to control inflation.

Provincial Minister Mian Aslam Iqbal strongly directed the authorities to keep a close watch on the prices of essential commodities while also playing an active role in ensuring the availability of vegetables.
