Imran Khan said that the government is not favor of political victimization

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday clarified that the government has nothing to do with the issue of registration of First Information Report (FIR) against former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif and other party leaders.

According to sources, this important issue was raised before the prime minister at a meeting of the federal cabinet and was discussed. Taking a clear and unequivocal stand, Imran Khan said that the government is not favor of political victimization and had nothing to do with the FIR against the PML-N leaders.

During the meeting, PM Imran Khan said that he was cutting a birthday cake when he came to know about the case.

Sources further revealed that the cabinet members suggested not to interfere in the FIR, but several ministers, including Shireen Mazari and Fawad Chaudhry, gave different views on the case.

Federal Minister for Human Rights Shirin Mazaari said that the case was a violation of basic human rights, adding that the lawsuit is also hurting the ruling party.

On the other hand, Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry said that cases like treason are against party policy.

Meanwhile, sources said, two federal ministers present at the cabinet meeting opposed the dismissal of the sedition case.
