Petition seeking ban on Sharif brothers' speeches set for hearing in IHC
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - A petition filed in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) seeking a ban on the speeches of PML-N leader Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and brother Shehbaz Sharif has been fixed for hearing.
The petitioner, Amir Aziz, filed the petition demanding that the speeches of the Sharif brothers be stopped from airing on TV. Nawaz Sharif, Chairman PEMRA, Shahbaz Sharif and others have been made parties in the petition and Chief Justice Islamabad High Court Justice Athar Minallah will hear the case on October 5.
The petition says that former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, in his recent speech, hurled insults at the state institutions and attempted to tarnish their image. The PML-N leader has been convicted by the court and cannot speak on the media.
It requests the court to ban Nawaz Sharif for his hateful speech and to oblige PEMRA to disallow airing his speeches in the future.
