Law Minister Maula Bukhsh Chandio on Friday said Gen Zias cronies were awaiting martial law.
The federal law minister said only those politicians who sided with the dictator were once again on the tenterhooks, waiting for a new martial law. He said such people were rather paving the way for such an eventuality. He asked why Nawaz Sharif was not openly against terrorists. Speaking in the Senate, Chandio said presidents in the past avoided addressing parliament perhaps considering it ‘uncivilised’. He said President Zardari made history by addressing parliament four times. He said all know who were dithering about condemning terrorism and who were taking the terrorists head on.Senator Prof Khursheed said the president’s address to the parliament was not up to the mark, while Zardari continues to violate the sanctity of the sacred office entrusted to him. Ishaq Dar said the president address skirted all key issues; neither did it laid out a policy on crucial matters. Federal Food and Agriculture Minister said that his ministry was virtually out of touch with the high-ups since the start of the process of devolution.
