Motorway rape case: Shahzad Akbar terms incident as incompetence of administration
LAHORE (Dunya News) - Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Accountability and interior Shahzad Akbar has termed the incident of rape of a woman in front of her children on the motorway in Lahore as incompetence of the administration.
Addressing a press conference with CCPO Omar Sheikh in Lahore, the Special Assistant to the PM said that there was incompetence of the administration in the motorway rape incident.
He said that it was the responsibility of the government to keep the highways safe, adding that all the evidence had been collected from the spot.
The Special Assistant said that the CCPO Omar Sheikh has been directed to conduct an investigation. CCPO’s statement was misinterpreted, government is trying to change the police culture and the crime rate will drop in the next few days, he added.
In response to a question about PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif, Shahzad Akbar said that Shehbaz Sharif appeared in a money laundering case worth billions of rupees. All the properties of Sharif and Zardari family have been confiscated.
On the occasion, CCPO Omar Sheikh said that the investigation into the motorway incident was underway and CCTV cameras were also being used to help. We have found a clue in the case, this case will definitely be solved, we have obtained evidence from the scene. Geo-fencing of the incident is also being done.
